Hallelujah

No one remembers who first suggested that we do Leonard Cohen’s beautiful and legendary song, “Hallelujah” (made iconic by K.D. Lang and Jeff Buckley, as well as dozens of other artists). Our initial impression was that this would be a fairly simple song that we could put together rather quickly, and so we approached it without any suspicion that the song would take such a hold over us. We also never expected that it would become one of our signature songs. But that’s what it is. “Hallelujah” always evokes a strong response from our audiences. When we decided to record a few more cover songs to add to our demo CD, it was obvious to all of us in the band that “Hallelujah” had to be among those new songs.

“Hallelujah” features another wonderful vocal performance by Victoria Sadler, singing lead as well as backing vocals. Wicasta assisted on backing vocals and guitars.

We hope you enjoy Windhaven’s version of “Hallelujah”. Recording and mixing this song was an emotional experience for us, leading to tears of joy and abandon during mastering. We hope you have the same emotional reaction to it that we did. If we come even close to that, we’ll certainly know that we did our jobs.

As ever, you can find the song in our music player, to the right in the sidebar. Or visit our Audio/Video page for more options.

Took me an hour to download this song because I only have dial up out here on my farm!! The best hour I ever spent on a download!! My heart wept and rejoiced at the same time! Angel voices in harmony! I just wish I could be at the market to hear this in person. Maybe God will bless me to be able to hear you all in person someday soon! Beautiful Voices!!!

Well I gotta tell you. this particular song is one of those “Hair standing up on the back of the neck” songs for me. Always loved it. When I heard Victoria’s voice I wasn’t sure.. First time I have ever heard it with a soft female voice. A beautiful voice mind you, but I just didn’t know if it had that something for this song, but as she reached the words “cut your hair” WOW From that point on I think I was a fuzzy haired kitty! You did a fantastic job! I think this will be my favorite rendition from now on.

I heard this song for the first time today.I just sat and cried with chills up my back.I have not heard a voice like this in years. The song is beautiful, but the singers make you feel the words as if you are living each part. It takes a special kind of band to evoke this much emotion from people and rest assured you now have a new, devoted fan in North Carolina.
